About us.
Who are we?
The Aruba Dolphins Swimming & Waterpolo Club is a non-profit organization and was founded in October of 1975.
The club is devoted to promoting the sport of swimming and youth fitness in San Nicolas and the surrounding areas of “P’ariba di Brug”.
We believe that physical fitness, athletics, and healthy competition are important components to personal development for youth.
In particular, we believe the sport of swimming provides an exceptional sports experience for young people.
Swimming is fun.
It helps develop friendships and increase confidence.
It helps kids learn to be responsible for themselves and to respect themselves and others.
It helps develop such life skills as goal setting and attainment, time management, teamwork, cooperation, perseverance, self-discipline, responsibility, and handling defeat.
Aruba Dolphins Swimming & Waterpolo Club strives to develop human beings, not just athletes, and to create a positive peer culture that promotes positive values.
We have approximately 140 active members, excluding the The Elementary League (approx. 300).
Aruba Dolphins Swimming & Waterpolo Club's long-term goals are to :
-
increase the number of swimmers in the area Pariba di Brug in year-round programs
-
provide and/or promote a variety of swimming programs, including "learn-to-swim" programs, developmental programs, and competitive swim teams including waterpolo and Masters group
-
develop and/or promote the development of a adequate aquatic facility such as the Piscina Olympico in Savaneta
-
recognize swimmers who have achieved significant goals locally and internationally, including Olympians;
-

The Elementary League -- also referred to as the learners are our introductory swim team programs. They are open to swimmers ages 4 and older who want to learn the art of swimming. The focus is on learning techniques of the different strokes, development and fun. This team has no competition. Swimmers participate in local swim exams to test their swim skills and abilities and are being certified for their basic swim abilities and skills.

We offer a variety of training groups based upon age and ability. We have one main swimming season that runs from August to July. The national team season runs from January-August.
The Age Group Swimmers are devided in 4 levels.
Level I, (6-8) and level II (9-11) are our beginners-level. We offer a year-round program for swimmers who want to participate in swimming competitions.
Level III (12-14) is our intermediate level and offers a year-round program for swimmers who want to participate in swimming competitions on a much higher level.
Level IV is our top level and also offers a year-round program for swimmers who want to participate in swimming competitions. This level works in conjunction with our National Swim Team and is for the more experienced and ready for a higher level of development, training, and competition swimmers.
-
Masters Age Group: The focus is on learning techniques of the different strokes, development of the physical condition and fun. We also offer stroke clinics for swimmers interested in specialized stroke training, either individual or in groups.
