The Aruba Dolphins New Years Dinner and Awards Night 2009 was a big success. Female Swimmer of the Year goes to Saskia Postma and male Swimmer of the Year goes to Sylvanio Goedgedrag.
Most promising and Rising Stars award goes to Jevier Romero, Netesha Redhead, George den Dunnen, Robin Kuiperdal and Victor Maduro.
A certificate of appreciation was presented to Ludmilla Maduro-Schwengle for her excellent work leading the parent committee and also for coach Ismael Santiesteban for his work with the Aruba Selection.
Congratulations to all.

Great swimming, lots of personal best times and new Aruba records. The Aruba Dolphins increased their lead over Stingray Swimming and are champions of the 7th Aruba Dolphins Age Group Invitational 2008. The Barracudas maintained their 3rd place. Congratulations to all.

During tonight's session the Stingrays made a strong move and are in striking distance of the first place for teams.
The Aruba Dolphins are still in the lead with 1253 points. Stingray Swimming has 1231 points and the Bonaire Barracudas are sitting comfortably in 3rd place with 440 points.

Final preparations are taking place for the 7th Aruba Dolphins Age group invitational. A total of 155 swimmers will be competing this weekend. Those entered are Barracudas from Bonaire, Piranhas and Bulado from Curacao and the local teams Orcas, Stingray and as host Dolphins. The psych sheet is uploaded and it promises to be another great meet. Don't miss it.

Those were the famous Freddy Mercury words sung yesterday at the end of a long and grueling Aruban Championships.
On day 3 the lead was widened significantly and the final scores are: Aruba Dolphins 2931.50 points, Stingray Swimming 2617.50 and Orcas 208 points.
High point trophy goes to Renze Postma in 11-12 boys, Saskia Postma in 13-14 girls, Sylvanio Goedgedrag in 13-14 boys and Raymond Vrolijk in 18-24 Men.
Many new personal best times and a new Aruba Record for the girls relay 18-24, made up of Maureen Rutten, Xiomaira Koolman, Emily Lopez and Roshendra Vrolijk in the 200 Free Relay.

On the second day of races the Aruba Dolphins swimmers were able to close the gap in team scores and are now in first place.

Everything is good to go for the Campeonato Arubano 2008 for age groups 11 & older. Click here for the individual entries and here for the relay entries.
Warm up friday starts at 6.00 PM, Saturday at 5.00 PM and Sunday at 8.30 AM.
The parade and opening ceremony will be on Saturday. All 10 & under who already swam 2 weeks ago are also required to participate in their team suits. Don't forget to bring your afl. 10,00 entry fee.

Our swimmers are back from the 9th Dutch Caribbean Invitational 2008. With around 375 swimmers it was a long and tiresome meet. Our team of only 14 swimmers got 234 points to put them in 8th place for teams.
Ally Ponson takes gold in the 50 Fly 11-12 Girls and silver in the 50 and 100 Free. She also broke the current Aruba record in the 50 Fly.
Alena Samanez takes bronze in the 100 Fly 11-12 Girls.
Sylvanio Goedgedrag takes bronze in the 100 Free 13-14 Boys by lowering his personal best by almost 4 seconds. Amazing.
Joey Ponson takes silver in the 50 Fly 13-14 Boys.
Renze Postma takes bronze in the 800 Free and 100 Back 11-12 Boys.
The relay Girls 11-12 made of Alena, Gaby, Carolina and Ally takes gold in the 4x100 Free Relay while setting a new meet record..
The relay Boys 13-14 made of Dillon, Joel, Joey and Sylvanio also takes gold in the 4x200 Free Relay while also setting a new meet record.
The relay Girls 11-12 made of Gaby (BK), Ally (BR), Alena (FL) and Carolina (FR) takes silver in the 4x100 Medley Relay.
The relay Boys 13-14 made of Sylvanio, Dillon, Joel and Joey takes silver in the 4x100 Free Relay.

En bes di Dutch Caribbean nos lo hasi tur esfuerzo, hunto cu tur mayor y atletanan, pa acumula mas fondo cu ta posible pa nos hasi NACO posible cu un grupo mas grandi cu ta posible y na un forma financieramente posible. Pues Directiva di Aruba Dolphins cu esaki ta notifica tur atletanan y nan mayornan cu lamentablemente nos mester cancela Dutch Caribbean pa hasi NACO 2008 posibel. Nos ta lamenta di mester a tuma e decision impopular aki, pero nos mester actua responsabel.

The AZB has cancelled participation of all teams for the National Day Parade on March 18, 2008.
The Family Day on the reef is still scheduled to begin at 12.00 pm.

Last week a small team of 12 Aruba Dolphins swimmers participated in the Karl Dalhouse Memorial Swim Meet in Kingston, Jamaica.
Junice Martin took 4 gold medals, Rebecca Maduro 3 silver and 1 bronze, Gabriella Arends 1 bronze, Tyreke Wernet 1bronze and Ryan van der Linden 1bronze. The team ended on 6th place overall. Congratulations to all. Good job !
